1,800 Jurassic turtle skeletons were found in mass grave in
Xingjiang, China earlier this week. It is said that they were swept in this
grave over a million years ago. They are said to have died from natural causes
because they were in a dry period for way to long and needed water in order to
live. They would gather in the remaining waterholes and wait for the rain to
come but it didn’t come. After the rain finally hit it created a long mud river
and washed the corpses away. At the grave site there is about 36 turtle’s square
mile and each turtle is about 8 inches long. These turtles will open up new
research for the paleontologists.
